Making a little bit of money here and there is always nice, especially when it doesn’t involve much work. With cashback sites and cashback accounts, it’s possible to earn money when you spend money. Here are some tips for how to make the most of cashback.
Buy planned purchases via a cashback site
If you are planning to buy something online, check for deals on cashback sites. The two most popular are TopCashback and Quidco, but there are others. Find the one that is offering the best cashback deal on the product you want to buy.
However, before you rush into a cashback deal, make sure you are getting the best price. You may be able to find your chosen product cheaper on a site that doesn’t offer cashback. If it still works out cheaper when you take in to account the cashback deal, then it makes more sense to buy at the lower price.
Take advantage of in-store cashback
Cashback sites usually give an option for you to link your credit and debit cards so that you can take advantage of in-store cashback offers. You can activate the offers you are interested in, then use your card in these stores to receive a cashback payment into your cashback account.
Get cashback on insurance and utility switching
You can often get good offers on insurance products and switching your utility or mobile phone providers through cashback sites. Shop around to find the best deals, taking into consideration the cashback offers too.
Cashback current accounts
There are some current accounts that offer cashback on any direct debits you pay from that account. However, these often have an account fee. If you are thinking about a rewards account, work out whether the amount of cashback you earn will be more than the monthly fee.
Cashback credit cards
There are a variety of credit cards available that offer rewards or cashback. Every time you use your credit card, you earn points. These points are then converted into rewards such as cashback, shopping vouchers or air miles. By paying for all your usual purchases on your credit card, you can build your points up pretty quickly. If you pay the balance in full each month you usually avoid paying interest.
When choosing your cashback credit card, choose the one that will benefit you the most. Some supermarket credit cards pay out in shopping vouchers and offer double points if you shop in their stores. However, if you don’t shop in that particular supermarket, this probably won’t be very useful.
Don't be tempted by offers you don't need
Cashback can be a good way of earning a little extra money, but it can be very easy to get tempted by offers you don’t need. If you see a great cashback deal for something you weren’t already planning on buying, ask yourself if you really need it and if you can actually afford it. Don’t spend more than you usually would just to get good deals.
At Morses Club, we provide cash loans, sometimes referred to as doorstep loans, to help take care of any unexpected costs. Doorstep loans aren’t always the best option for everyone so check out our how it works section to see if it is right for you.
The Morses Club Card also offers cash back and rewards. Every time you spend with one of our approved retailers using the Morses Club Card to pay, you’ll earn money back and the amount you spend.
