If you only use these apps when you are connected to free Wi-Fi or your home internet, then you won’t eat into your data allowance.

Apps like Quidco and CheckoutSmart sometimes offer small cashback payments simply for checking in at a specific retailer or buying certain items. You will also get notifications of cashback offers or discounts.
4. Get the best price
Some mobile apps, like Idealo and Mysupermarket, allow you to compare prices of items so you can see which supermarket or shop is offering it at the lowest price. This can help you save money by finding the best deals on items that you were already planning on buying.

6. Sell your clutter
Apps such as MusicMagpie offer money for old books, DVDs and CDs. You can scan the barcode using the app and they will make you an offer. Your items may not be worth huge sums of money, but this could be a way of making small amounts of cash for old items you no longer want.
7. Get vouchers and discount codes
There are several apps, such as Voucher Codes, Voucher Cloud and Groupon, that send you discount codes and money-saving vouchers for various items. If you are planning on eating out or purchasing a specific item, then you may be able to save money using these discounts.
8. Bank Online
Most high street banks offer a free mobile app. You can check how much money is in your account before you make a purchase and receive notifications if your account goes below a certain amount. This could help you better manage your money and stop you going overdrawn.

Most gas and electricity providers have mobile apps where you can view your tariff, your bills and your energy usage. You could use the app to make sure you are getting the best deal and are managing your energy efficiently. You can also sign up for tips on how to reduce your energy bills.
