If you can’t commit to set working hours or you need a little extra income, then working from home could provide flexibility. Here are 10 ways you could make money without leaving the house.

1.     Freelancing

Offer your skills as a freelancer through sites like Upwork and Fiverr. Web design, graphic design, content writing, video editing and proofreading are all in demand. You can set your rates and bid on the work you want.

2.     Ironing service

Provide a professional ironing service for local clients. Charge per item or per basket and make money ironing in front of your favourite TV show or singing along to your favourite albums.

3.     Alterations & repairs

If you have dressmaking or sewing skills, then utilise them from the comfort of your home by offering alterations and repairs on items of clothing.

4.     Using the internet

Websites such as Swagbucks pay small amounts for tasks such as doing online searches, watching videos, completing surveys and playing games. There are also sites that pay you for testing websites and apps.

5.     Voice artist

Sites such as Voice123.com offer the opportunity to get paid as a voice artist. You can audition for various projects, and if your voice is right, get paid for reading scripts or providing voiceovers.

6.     Sell photographs

Stock image sites such as iStockPhoto, Shutterstock and Dreamstime allow you to sell images online without the need for your own website.

7.     Teach a skill

Give music or language lessons in your home or online. You can use websites such as Udemy or SkillShare to create online lessons and get paid for teaching your favourite subjects.

8.     Translating or transcribing

Amazon Mechanical Turk is a popular site for anyone requiring human intelligence tasks like translating or transcribing. You can set your own pricing or choose which projects you bid for.

9.     Virtual assistant

Many small businesses require administrative support on an adhoc basis. Tasks such as call answering, email management, creating spreadsheets, data input and managing bookings can all be done from your home.

10. Advertising

If you have a large online following then you can get companies to pay for adverts on your blog, videos or newsletter. If you have a large social media following, then you can get paid for talking about or sharing images of a product on your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram accounts.

Although people do make money in the above ways, there is no guarantee these suggestions will work for you. You will need to have the required skills if you expect people to pay you for a service. However, if you think you have what it takes, then you could make a nice extra income. Don’t forget that you will need to let the tax man know about any money you earn.

At Morses Club, we understand that it isn’t always possible to plan for those sudden costs even when you are careful with your money. We specialise in providing doorstep loans to cover those little emergencies when they happen.
